It’s that time of year. The weather begins to get warmer, the sun stays up late into the evening, and online poker players finally start seeing those World Series of Poker satellites that they’ve been craving for months.
Full Tilt has begun running qualifiers for the 2009 WSOP, and not just into the main event. The popular online poker site will also qualify players into the $1,000 Stimulus Special tournament, the fourth tournament of the Series, and provide opportunities for players to enter a host of other bracelet events.
For the granddaddy of them all, the main event, there are several ways to win a seat. Full Tilt will be hosting daily double shootouts (81 players) for $216 apiece wherein the winner receives a $12,000 main event package. Those tournaments begin at 3:30 p.m. EST and 9:30 p.m. EST.
The site will also feature a 150-seat guarantee to the $10,000 event on Sunday, June 21 at 6 p.m. EST for $535.
Full Tilt will additionally host five regular weekly cash qualifiers for the main event -- a $322 satellite on Monday at 9 p.m. EST (two seats guaranteed), a $216 satellite on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. EST (one seat guaranteed), a $1,060 satellite on Thursday at 9 p.m. EST (five seats guaranteed), a $322 satellite on Saturday at 9 p.m. EST (two seats guaranteed), and a $535 satellite on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. EST (two seats guaranteed). These qualifiers will run each week.
Not looking to spend any money to get into the big dance? Then watch out for the site’s 50 free main-event seats. Full Tilt will be running daily freerolls until June 21. A player must win a Round 1 freeroll (an around-the-clock sit-and-go tournament), and then finish in the top two in one of the four daily Round 2 tournaments to qualify for the Main Event Race Finals Freeroll, held each Sunday at 4:30 p.m. EST. The top three finishers in that tournament win a seat into the WSOP main event.
For the fifth straight year, Full Tilt will award any of its qualifiers to the main event an additional $10 million if he or she goes on to win it all.
Poker players often bemoan the fact that there aren’t many online qualifiers for the WSOP outside of the main event, but Full Tilt won’t face too much of that criticism this year. The site will host daily qualifiers into the lesser-priced WSOP events for $26 and $75, with the winner guaranteed to get a $2,000 prize package.
The site will host an 80-seat guarantee to event No. 4 of the WSOP, the $1,000 no-limit hold’em event which is coined the “Stimulus Special,” for just $33 on May 10 at 5:30 p.m. EST. The top 80 finishers are guaranteed to win a $2,500 prize package ($1,000 for the event, $1,500 spending money).
